Presentation: Garrus is basically a wise-cracking ex-cop. He's bitter toward authority and has been let down enough times to know that justice is best dealt out with his own hands.

Garrus has a very black and white sense of justice. Good people deserve to live, bad people deserve to die. Deadly force is a small price to pay for setting things right. Bribery, blackmail, slavery; things that are morally reprehensible are all against his moral code. He believes that turning a blind eye toward that sort of thing is just the same as endorsing it, which is why he left the Citadel, when things started taking a turn for the morally grey. (His anti-establishment nature makes him a bit of an outcast compared to “normal” turians, but he doesn’t care.)

Following Commander Shepard's death, Garrus came into his leadership abilities. His passion for helping the innocent as well as his tactical prowess attracted a squad of ten other 'freedom fighters' against the oppressors on Omega. Needless to say, when Garrus decides something, he puts his whole heart into it; whether it's saving the galaxy or killing slavers and mercs. If they hadn't been betrayed by one of their own, a turian named Sidonis, they'd likely still be in contact today.

Despite all his tactical prowess and combat skills, socially? Garrus is kind of awkward when he’s on shore-leave. If he’s not sure of something, you’ll know it in his speech and the twitch in his mandibles. He only gets like that when he’s off high-alert, but once you get to know him, it’s obvious he’s still very much a softie on the inside. He wears his doubts on his sleeve, and if he’s intimidated by you or trusts you, he won’t mind sharing those doubts. He wants to be idealistic, he just feels it’s not possible for him anymore. He can be taught otherwise, but it ain’t easy.

Motivations: Garrus wasn't always so cynical toward authority. He went through the same military training all turians have to go through, and initially, he viewed law enforcement with reverence and idealism; his dad was a cop on the Citadel, so he applied there instead of the turian military. Unfortunately, through his work in C-Sec and all the loopholes and red tape that come with politics and "keeping the peace," Garrus became cynical and started to question if the legal means dealt the best results.

Garrus values his teammates and friends greatly; gaining his respect is pretty much a matter of sticking up for those who can't protect themselves. Sadly, Garrus lost all of his teammates to betrayal; but Garrus isn't the type to forgive. He believes in 'an eye for an eye' and a life for a life. Nine others were killed because of one man. Seems only logical to hunt him down and stick a bullet between his eyes, no?

(as a P.S. I had motivation and presentation together as personality when I wrote this so sorry if it doesn't make much sense....)

Thread: Here

Prose: (I know Garrus probably won't keep his sniper rifle, but bear with me)

There's something about this whole thing that screams 'groomed varren,' he thinks. Being paraded around like some kind of fresh steak is the last thing Garrus pictured he'd be doing, but here he was, armed with a rifle and told to, well, 'show off.'

He's in no position to compromise, and he knows it. He pops a heat-sink for show, reloading his barrel before he sets up his first shot. Survival comes first-- getting out of this so he can go home, so he can figure out what the hell's going on and how he can put a stop to it. He doesn't particularly like being paraded around and told to dance on cue, but if it'll save his skin so he can do all that, then he'll swallow his pride.

C-Sec all over again, he thinks to himself, nailing the first headshot and lining up the next-- this time reloading faster, lining the shot up sooner. His visor tells him he needs to angle the shot .4 degrees higher. He lines it up to three and blasts a hole an inch from the first shot. His visor corrects to .35. He smirks, mandibles drawing up as he preps the final shot and--

"Scoped and dropped," he whispers to himself, clearing the first hole in a clean shot. He looks up, shrugging off any strange looks. If he's gonna win, he's gonna do this right.

"Head shot was too easy, figured I'd go for two-in-one." They won't find a better shot in the galaxy, they could be sure of that.

What is your character scored:
Strengths:
Garrus is a trained sniper and has military-grade combat expertise, on top of his C-Sec training (which actually includes more dealing with people than just learning how to shoot a gun.) Working under the turian military, Garrus was a top-ranked hand-to-hand specialist; he would've on the fast track to some serious promotions if he hadn't stepped down to join C-Sec.

While Garrus is also trained in assault rifles and most weapons, he has a special knack for technology as well. Calibrations and computing are a passion of his, so not only can use his omni-tool to disable most mechanical equipment, but he can also use that equipment against you with the sort of precision you can only get from crunching numbers. Sounds boring, but it works wonders.

In short, Garrus has lots of fighting experience, and is the most balanced member in the game, so there aren't many foes he can't deal with. He's a tactician-- every plan needs to be thought out, every shot calibrated to its maximum efficiency. This is the guy that held back three bands of mercs for days, alone, armed with a single sniper-rifle and some high ground. He's ready, he's driven, and he sure as hell hates to lose.

Weaknesses:
Unfortunately... Garrus is one of only two species in the known galaxy whose body is made up of dextro-amino acids. This means his body is incapable of processing levo-amino-based foods (ie: everything made for humans or any other species, short of the qurians.) At best, he’d be unable to yield any sort of nutrition from it. At worst, he could suffer an allergic reaction that can kill him if not treated immediately. So survival for him might be a bit difficult, to say the least.
